Bearded Dragon Care Guide:
Enclosure Size:
Juveniles: Minimum 75 x 45 x 45 cm enclosure.
Adults: Minimum 120 x 60 x 60 cm (a 4 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft enclosure is ideal).
A front-opening glass or PVC enclosure with good ventilation is recommended.
Substrate:
Reptile carpet, paper towels, or tile are recommended for easy cleaning and safety.
Avoid loose substrates like sand, wood chips, or soil that can cause impaction if ingested.
Hides & Enrichment:
Provide a hide on the cool side, climbing branches, basking platforms, and safe décor.
Bearded Dragons are curious and benefit from enrichment items like rocks, hammocks, or logs.
Humidity:
Maintain humidity between 30–40%.
Ensure proper ventilation and avoid excessive misting.
Use a hygrometer to monitor humidity levels.
Lighting & Temperature:
UVB: Essential for calcium metabolism and overall health. Use a T5 high-output 10.0 UVB tube covering at least 2/3 of the enclosure length.
Basking Spot: 38–42°C
Cool Side: 24–27°C
Night Drop: No lower than 18°C
Provide a ceramic heat emitter if nighttime temperatures drop too low.
Diet:
Food: Omnivorous—offer a variety of insects (crickets, dubia roaches, BSFL) and fresh greens/vegetables.
Feeding Schedule:
Juveniles: Insects 2–3 times a day, vegetables daily.
Adults: Insects 3–4 times a week, vegetables daily.
Greens should include collard greens, mustard greens, squash, and carrots.
Avoid spinach, iceberg lettuce, and citrus fruits.
Supplementation:
Dust insects with calcium without D3 daily for juveniles, 3–4 times a week for adults.
Use calcium with D3 and a multivitamin once a week.
Water & Hydration:
Provide a shallow water dish and mist vegetables to help with hydration.
Bathing once a week can help with hydration and shedding.
Handling:
Bearded Dragons are generally docile and enjoy gentle handling.
Support their entire body and avoid sudden movements.
Daily interaction helps them remain social and calm.
Bearded Dragons are intelligent, interactive reptiles that can thrive for 10–15 years in captivity. With the right setup, diet, and care, they make rewarding companions for reptile enthusiasts of all levels.
